Naming the Stars - Using a Convoluted Neural Network to Classify Galaxy Images
While telescopes are continually capturing images of these galaxies, the sheer number of them makes their classification by humans an unlikely, if not impossible, task. Fortunately, with the creation of neural networks that excel at image classification, this problem is imminently solvable. I set out to see just how accurately galaxies can be classified by a convolutional neural network.
